Media Pending Approval (MPA) is another classic "security feature" that got added to soyjak.party, in mid-July of 2024. It works by using sha256 hashing for a file whitelist and PDQ hashing for image hashbans; when an image not in the whitelist is posted, it goes into an approval queue for jannies to either add to the whitelist or hashban.[1] It buck broke newGODs, IP-hopping scum and especially ‘P Spammers. The man who used to be featured on the old placeholder image is DOLL's profile picture on the schlog and a reverse image search margefully leads to this video. In Nudev Future, it frequently coals up the front page until Janny heats up his daily supply of hot pockets. Soyteens have made a number of edits parodying the image, some examples of which are listed below.
On August 10, 2024, Numanager (Mustard) hosted two contests. One was about Nuvariants, and the other was about a new image for Media Pending Approval. The prize for both contests is that the respective winners would win a Soygem Pass and a personal board that only they can post on. Numanager suggested that there might be multiple images accepted, and put into random rotation, although this never happened unfortunately.
On August 18, 2024, Mustard would reveal the winners of the Media Pending Approval contest. The winner would receive their own board for one week and a free Soygem Pass for life. Instead of opening his own board, the winner would decide to re-open the /r/ board. Other contestants who had their submissions rated as Ruby and above were permitted to get a Soygem Pass.[2]

At some point, a nigger started spamming /soy/ with all kinds of 'p every day when jannies were dreaming of their next scissoring session scheduled on 'cord. It was then decided there should be a file approval system to prevent this happening again and so there was the media pending approval system and increased janny activity.
The pixel-art janny is actually based off the variant Cobbert, therefore solidifying him as a shartee kultur!
MPA Niggerhell[edit | edit source]
MPA Niggerhell refers to a state where an image remains stuck in Media Pending Approval for an excessively long time. This delay is typically caused by jannies being too busy gooning or occasionally by a genuine bug in the approval system.
When this happens, it can completely destroy your soyduel attempt, since the image you posted stays a total mystery to everyone until (or if) it gets approved, so nobody knows if you soyquoted or gigaquoted. As a result, you WILL lose every soyduel you participate in and you WILL be called a nusoi for having a new IP.
There is a months-old MPA on /v/ due to a bug.[3]
